Artists Work

Stelarc exhibiting various visuals (e.g. movies) projected onto the curved rock wall, and
Stelarc exhibiting himself being held up by sharp wood sticks, in the underground exhibition space.
A natural rock texture on the back wall underground.

Ai Wei Wei representing various doors that were RECOLLECTED from the Japanese earthquake in 2011. This 'exhibition wall' is exposed high up to the audience from the courtyard.
These doors are also used as a wall for his upstairs studio, providing insulation and symbolic rememberance.

Stairs

Initial sketch of 2 studios one above ground, and one below ground, with an exhibition space in the middle.

Stairs from ground level to underground within exhibition space.
The Stairs are abstract and coming out of the natural underground rock wall. Steps are also used as pillars to display exhibition pieces.

Vertical stairs connecting excavated exhibition level to the above ground artist studio.
The exhibition space has been excavated around the rock stairs.
Although the stairs may seem sketchy and scary yet thrilling for the artist, the material of solid, natural rock, and a one sided rock wall provides a sense of security.

Ai Weiwei - Recollected. Sterlarc - Extend

Ai Weiwei's studio above ground.
At times, open to the public to interact with and view the RECOLLECTED, RECYCLED, AND PREPOSSESSING goods and items within the house from all around Japan, particularly ruins from natural disasters.

Parvati Valley

Picture taken from a bridge crossing the Parvati River in a small village 'Kasol,' facing a mountain that contains a village called Gran at the bottom.

The beautiful Parvati Valley is in the Indian state of Himachel Pradesh, near the border of Tibet, and amongst the Himalayas.

This river provides fresh water from melted snow off mountains. Natural hot springs run down into the edge of this river at temperatures around 70 degrees at times.
Locals all around the valley connect pipes with the hot springs to transfer to private/public baths, or temple baths.
Locals also wash their clothes by hand in the clean, fresh river.

Picture - October 2011.
